Setting Goals

Let's talk about mushrooms!

I hear the best way to set a goal is to say it and then write it down.

Back in 2000 I purchased enough shiitake spawn to do about 200 logs. I had no ideal what I was doing or were I was going with it, I just knew I wanted to grow mushrooms. You know its a cool weird thing to do and very few other people   were doing it. So now you know who I am. Somebody who is willing to take a road trip on a unknown road. These kinds of adventures can be fun, costly and get you lost. I can tell you for a fact at some point you have to stop and get yourself a map. Some folks would use the map to find there way back home and others ( like me ) would use it to finish road trip; or least Try

Once I realized I like growing shiitake mushrooms and enjoyed the back breaking work it didn't take long to start dreaming. A dream that took me to a business plan, a bank loan and some victories and many failures. In my business plan I had a goal for every year, a plan that over four years that would bring my new farm up   to a income level that would pay off the farm, help save money for my childerns college education, pay off my house mortgage   and have extra money to splurge and spend. I can say after eight years I am just now reaching my first year goals.

Have you ever heard of flat tires, detours, dead end roads,   taking the wrong   turn, having to turn around and starting again? My road map to reaching my farming goals have changed many times but my goal has'nt!

Blogs are great because sometimes knowing others are in the race it keeps everybody running. This blog is open !
